From BTP-Composite Details to the Design of Large Complex Structures 

FACC started out as the ski manufacturer Fischer, but soon established itself as a recognized high-tech supplier to the international aviation industry. Today, FACC is active throughout the world, and has been successfully involved, from the outset, in the currently most prestigious aircraft development programs worldwide - Airbus A380, A350 and Boeing 787 Dreamliner.

Milestones in the company's history:

October 2009:
On October 16, 1989, FACC was established as an independent company. This year Austria's leading aviation supplier is celebrating its 20-year anniversary. Take a trip with us back in time - in this anniversary publication we show how everything began and present the highlights in the history of FACC AG. 


Anniversary publication

June 2008:
ACC Kooperationen und Beteiligungen GmbH. takes over the shares originally held by Fischer Sports. As of June 2008 the shares of FACC AG are held by Österreichische Salinen AG (48.125 %), ACC Kooperationen und Beteiligungen GmbH (48.125 %) and Stephan Ges.m.b.H. (3.75 %).


April 2007:
Facility IV for Nacelles starts production.

August 2006:
Establishment of FACC Solutions Inc. in Montreal, Canada for final assembly and on-site-support for Bombardier.


June 2006:
Establishment of FACC Solutions s.r.o., an engineering branch in Bratislava, Slovakia.


April 2006:
FACC begins construction of Facility IV in Reichersberg. This state-of-the-art, highly automated facility is for the manufacture of engine nacelles and engine systems, including those for Boeing 787 and Airbus A350.

February 2006:
Goodrich Aerostructures chooses FACC as a development and production partner for the thrust-reverser nacelle of the new Airbus A350.


2005:
Facility III for Aircraft Structures starts production and decision is made to build a fourth production site.

2004:
The decision is made to build a third production site (Facility III - Structures) on the Reichersberg premises.


2003:
Boeing chooses FACC as a development and production partner for the new super-efficient long-haul aircraft Boeing 787.


2002:
Airbus chooses FACC as a development and production partner for the new wide-body Airbus A380.


2001:
FACC begins to train apprentices.


2001:
Establishment of FACC Engineering Solutions, an engineering branch in Vienna.

2000:
The engine manufacturer Rolls-Royce names FACC as a Supply Chain Manager for all of its engine composite components.


2000:
Production starts in the newly-built Reichersberg facility (Facility II for Aircraft Interiors).


1999:
With a symbolic ground-breaking ceremony, FACC initiates construction activities for a new manufacturing facility (Facility II) in Reichersberg (Upper Austria).


1999:
FACC is converted from a public limited company (Ges.m.b.H.) to a joint-stock corporation (AG). Walter Stephan, CEO, acquires 5 % of the company shares, Austrian Salinen AG and Fischer Ges.m.b.H. each hold 47.5 % of the shares.

A new company logo is implemented.

 


1997:
FACC completes extensive expansion projects in Facility I in Ried as well as the construction of the new office building for administrative headquarters.


1991:
Austrian Salinen AG, a group of companies focusing in salt mining and production, joins FACC Ges.m.b.H. and acquires 50% of FACC's shares. This acquisition provides a base for further growth for FACC and for the implementation of an extensive investment program.

The following years see the company develop from a manufacturer of small components to an important partner for the development and production of advanced major components and whole system solutions for the high-tech aviation industry.


1989:
On December 1, FACC Ges.m.b.H. is established as a wholly owned subsidiary of Fischer Ges.m.b.H.. In the following years, the company positions itself successfully amongst its competitors in the USA and in Europe.


1981:
The development division of Fischer Ges.m.b.H. searches for new application areas for its expertise in composites that had been developed in the course of the manufacture of sporting goods. The in-house R&D division's years of experience and level of competence set the foundation for the development of aircraft components. The first customer order arrives from Airbus, followed by further contracts from aircraft manufacturers from all over the world.
